Xavier alumni delighted with XULA Fest 2024 during homecoming week
November 6, 2024
This year’s XULA Fest, held on Tuesday, November 5th, from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM, was a night to remember. Students, alumni, and faculty came together for an exciting evening filled with activities, food, and camaraderie.
One of the main attractions of the night was the photo booth, which quickly became a favorite spot for attendees to snap pictures with friends and family. The booth was equipped with props and a lively backdrop, perfect for capturing the spirit of the evening. Many groups gathered to take both silly and heartfelt photos.
“XULA Fest is the highlight of the homecoming events that aren’t classic ones everybody attends like the tailgate or Celebration on the Yard. It’s not every day we get to come together as a campus and just enjoy good music, food, and each other’s company” said Nylah Briggs Xavier Alumna.
For those looking for a bit more adventure, XULA Fest featured a rock-climbing wall for thrill-seekers to test their abilities. Nearby sat a bouncy house basketball hoop and a tower contraption used to spin riders upside down and side to side for those who dare.
Face painting was also available. Guests were able to transform into their favorite characters or add a splash of color to their look, and one of the most popular attractions during XULA Fest was the dunk tank, where attendees had the chance to dunk their favorite misters from the Royal Court.
A celebration isn’t complete without food, and XULA Fest did not disappoint. Students had the chance to indulge from Southerns, a local restaurant known for its southern comfort food and Papa Chef TJ. Additionally, a popcorn machine was set up for a mobile food option.
“The food was amazing! I’ve been looking forward to it all week, especially trying some new dishes and catching up with other students who graduated with me” Briggs said.
In addition to all the fun activities, a special portrait station was set up for students who wanted to capture the moment with a professional illustration. Portrait stations aren’t normally at campus events, and for students interested in current events, a designated area was set up to watch election results, allowing everyone to stay informed while still enjoying the festivities. It was the perfect blend of celebration and civic engagement, bringing the campus community together in a unique way.
“What makes XULA Fest special is the energy. Everyone’s out here to relax and have a good time, and it shows. It’s like a giant family reunion” said Kaila Dancy Xavier Aluma. It’s more than just fun, it’s a reminder of the sense of community we have here. You see familiar faces, meet new ones, and celebrate what it means to be part of Xavier,” said Dancy.
From the photo booth to the chance to watch the election results, this year’s XULA Fest event had something for everyone. It was a night of fun, laughter, and memories that will last long after the event itself.
