Senior Week at Xavier University of Louisiana is a cherished tradition that offers a variety of activities and events designed to honor the graduating class. It allows the graduating seniors to reflect on their time in college, celebrate achievements, and make memories.
“The goal of Senior Week was to engage the entire class and celebrate being college seniors, an accomplishment that deserves to be recognized,” said Kennedy Wells, the 2024-2025 Miss Senior, a mass communication major from Shreveport, La.
This year’s Senior Week theme was “Back to 1925” and was held Sept. 23-27. The senior class council hosted: Senior Sunrise, Seniors as Seniors, Picture Time Capsule, and a 2000s Cookout.
“We wanted these events to be memorable and sentimental while also being entertaining enough to get the class excited. We hope that the senior class made memories that will stay with us long after graduation,” Wells said.
Senior Week serves as a significant milestone in the lives of graduating seniors. It provides a much-needed break from academics and allows students to relax, celebrate, and reflect on their college experience. The events included in Senior Week were carefully chosen to offer a diverse range of activities that catered to the interests of all students.
“The events during Senior Week allowed me to take a break from everything going on in my classes and live in the moment and enjoy everything happening around me,” said Nija Robinson, a senior biology pre-med major from Atlanta, Ga.
The Senior Sunrise offered a quiet and reflective moment for seniors to ponder their personal growth and the journey they have taken throughout their college years. Seniors Dressing as Seniors provided a lighthearted and fun-filled experience that allowed seniors to dress up as senior citizens and let loose. The Picture Time Capsule was a sentimental event that allowed seniors to capture their thoughts and feelings for their future selves while also creating lasting memories of their time at Xavier. Finally, the Senior Cookout was a social event that brought the entire senior class together to celebrate and create memories.
“My favorite event of Senior Week was the Picture Time Capsule. This event allowed me to reflect on my accomplishments at Xavier while creating new goals for myself and leaving my mark for the generations to come,” said Jasmine Bobo, a senior biology pre-med major from Atlanta, Ga.
