Xavier alumna crowned Inaugural Queen Nandi

Xavier alumna, Dr. Courtney Villere Jones, has been crowned the Inaugural Queen Nandi by the Krewe of Nandi. As part of her reign, Jones visited Xavier’s campus during a student body meeting on Feb. 6 in the University Center Ballroom.

Reflecting on her journey, Dr. Courtney Villere Jones expressed her feelings upon receiving the title.

“When I heard the news, I was elated, honored, and humbled,” she shared.

Recalling her time at Xavier University of Louisiana, Dr. Courtney Villere Jones spoke of the impact of her alma mater. “Being an alumna of Xavier is being part of a prestigious society, the 1925 Society,” she remarked. “Xavier has prepared us to command attention and change the world.”

According to Dr. Courtney Villere Jones, her journey at Xavier was filled with cherished memories. She expressed her gratitude to Xavier for shaping her into the person she is today.

“It is heartwarming to be recognized by my alma mater,” Dr. Courtney Villere Jones said. “I’ve learned that dreams really come true. Never stop dreaming.”

As the Xavier community celebrates Jones’s achievement, students like Ms. Xavier, Brayanna “Sunshine” Jones, express their pride in having a fellow alumna represent the university as Queen Nandi.

“It’s very motivating to see an alumna of Xavier achieve such greatness,” Brayanna “Sunshine” Jones remarked. “To see people who have graduated from Xavier do big things and make a powerful yet effective impact.”

In addition to Brayanna “Sunshine” Jones’s sentiments, Xavier student Mark Johnson, a senior business administration major, shared his excitement about Dr. Courtney Villere Jones’s recognition.

“Seeing Dr. Jones crowned as Queen Nandi fills me with pride,” Jones said. “It’s a testament to the excellence of Xavier University and the caliber of individuals it produces.”

The recognition of Dr. Courtney Villere Jones as the Inaugural Queen Nandi brings attention to the Xavier community and its commitment to excellence in education.

As the Xavier community continues to celebrate Dr. Courtney Villere Jones’s achievement, her journey serves as an inspiration for current and future generations of students.
