Men of Xavier Week Hosts 3v3 Basketball Event

Men of Xavier hosted an event on Feb. 24 allowing Xavier students to compete in a 3v3 basketball tournament at the recreation center, with the winning team receiving a $50 gift card. The event featured fun, competitiveness, and skill, marking a memorable beginning for Men of Xavier Week.
“The goal was to get people united for the event,” said Anthony JeanMarie, a senior political science major and vice president of Men of Xavier. “It really influenced students to step out of their comfort zones and have a fun time.”
The basketball tournament was a night to remember as teams competed intensely for the prize. Many students attended to support Men of Xavier and witness exciting matchups. The enthusiastic crowd brought energy to the event, encouraging teams to put on a show with dunks, crossovers, and friendly trash talk.
Freshman psychology major Asialyn Swayzer expressed enthusiasm for the event. “The event overall was really fun, and I would love to see more events like this next year,” Swayzer said.
Men of Xavier created the event to provide a fun night for students at the recreation center. Despite the competitive atmosphere, the tournament fostered camaraderie among friends, whether they won or lost, building strong friendships and allowing students to take a break from school stress.
“Being part of the Men of Xavier committee, we thought it would be cool to create an event that provides stress relief for students to come and play basketball,” said Chamberlain Newman, a senior biology pre-med major.
